Sandbanks is a small peninsula crossing the mouth of Poole Harbour on the English Channel at Poole, Dorset, England.
Sandbanks Beach is arguably the best beach in the UK for its soft golden sand, crystal clear water, breath-taking views and commitment to the environment. It’s enjoyed coveted Blue Flag status for 31 years in a row, having first received the award in 1987.
The national and local media are fascinated by Sandbanks dubbing it ‘Britain’s Palm Beach’ and ‘Millionaires Playground’ because it has some of the highest property values in the UK and a number of celebrity residents.
As usual, the reality is somewhat different. The c.800 households that make up Sandbanks are a genuinely eclectic mix of people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.
Some live here most of the time, others enjoy a holiday home here.
All share a love of the beauty and unique character of the area. Its proximity to the Jurassic Coast, access to Poole Harbour, Studland beaches and heathland AONB and Purbecks beyond only adds to its magnetic charm.
